One person killed in Surrey bus stop crash
A pedestrian waiting at a bus stop was struck and killed by a Jeep in Surrey this morning.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. The vehicle, which was driven by a 17-year-old girl, crashed into a covered bus shelter on the southeast corner of Fraser Highway and 156th Street.
“He was young. He was 22 years old”, Karla Drew said.
Family members identified the victim as Evan Archibald of Surrey. You don’t think you’re going to wake up and find your son died, just doing nothing.
Mounties say that intoxicants are not believed to be a factor, but wet road conditions are believed to have contributed to the crash.
Witnesses said the teenager, who sustained minor injuries in the crash, seemed distraught. Police said the driver is co-operating with investigators.
The Surrey RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Collision and Reconstructionist Service (ICARS) analyzed the scene.
