Scandal Season 5: Episode 3 spoiler photos
Scandal Season 5 delivered a shocking episode last week in which Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) dropped a bombshell, telling the press she is President Fitzgerald “Fitz” Thomas Grant III’s mistress. While Fitz promises Olivia a house in a small town in Vermont where they can lead normal lives, Jake offers her a chance to stand in the sun, to wipe her hands clean, and live her own life instead of fixing everyone else’s. Are you excited for tonight’s Scandal episode (“Paris is Burning”)? Mellie doesn’t like this idea, so she makes the bold move of hiring Cyrus as her chief advisor to get what she wants. “I want her to suffer like I suffered”. And Abby will try to prove that she can handle her job as Press Secretary, despite being undermined by Liv in the premiere. Mellie’s list of demands grow, adding the Olivia can’t take the Grant name and that Fitz has to give up his family’s home in Santa Barbara. The clip also shows Liv in tears as she speaks to someone over the phone saying, “I think I made a mistake”. We thought him and Olivia were tight, she is his daughter’s godmother after all. Although the public loves a good scandal, now that she’s on the road to the White House, Mellie can’t take this kind of heat. After this conversation, Fitz goes out to talk to Mellie to apologize and thank her for everything that he has put her through and everything she has done for him.
Cyrus heads to the Oval Office and though he claims to be on Fitz’s side, he suggests that Mellie will never agree and he should just take her back, putting his relationship with Olivia on hold. He no longer needs her to keep up their marriage charade. Needless to say the First Lady is NOT happy when she finds out what Olivia did. Fitz clearly underestimates how evil Cyrus can be, because one short conversation with Mellie successfully poisons her against Fitz and she stops the interview right before it’s about to start.
Since time has run out, Olivia and Fitz have to go with Abby’s plan.
While the president’s affair dominates the news, there’s another story that Jake sees about the Louvre being set on fire. This means something to them, but I’m not sure what.
