‘Fast and Furious 8’ nabs ‘Compton’ director
Turn the key, start your engines and hit the gas: “Furious 8” has officially found its director in “Straight Outta Compton” helmer F. Gary Gray. Indeed just prior to Universal’s confirmation earlier today, Gray was reportedly in the running to helm Black Panther for Disney, though the director has been given the keys to the former studio’s billion-dollar baby. Behind them was a framed photo collage filled with stills from previous Fast & Furious movies. We’ve yet to hear a reaction from Diesel himself – he’s now in the middle of promoting The Last Witch Hunter – but it shouldn’t be long before he follows up; hopefully we’ll also find out how his mom feels about the whole thing. This was my film school.
