Tennessee WR Pig Howard dismissed from team
In a teleconference today, Butch Jones announced that senior wide receiver Pig Howard has been dismissed for violating team rules (which we can all assume has something to do with marijuana, because what else would you hide with such a vague reason).
Howard was suspended for the season opener against Bowling Green.
This season, he has just one catch for eight yards.
With No. 19 Georgia – and outstanding Bulldog running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel – coming to town on Saturday, Vols coach Butch Jones has encouraged a return to fundamentals from the Tennessee defense as it looks to temper another stellar SEC rushing attack.
“It’s definitely a big loss”, senior safety Brian Randolph said.
Pig Howard has been dismissed from the Vols’ program.
True, Howard hasn’t done much this season.
The news was put up on the official UT Sports Tennessee Football twitter page. But, with a healthy Howard in Tennessee’s lineup, the quarterback has struggled to find a rhythm and convert on any pass beyond 10 yards. He also had 1,068 receiving yards and five touchdowns in his career.
There have been only 17 games all season in which a Football Bowl Subdivision team lost after leading by at least 13 points, according to STATS LLC. Jones had said Monday that Phillips would miss the game due to a shoulder injury…. Jones said offensive tackle Brett Kendrick “has been limited” with an unspecified injury, leaving his status uncertain for Saturday’s game.
– Dylan Wiesman, Tennessee’s starting right guard, practiced on Tuesday and should be able to play.
