Jason Garrett scolds Greg Hardy: Not how we operate as an organization
Dallas coach Jason Garrett said he thinks Hardy is just excited to play again and didn’t mean anything bad by his comments. “That’s not how we want to operate as an organization”, Garrett said. As Deadspin reports, last weekend, Grizzlies player Matt Barnes drove nearly 100 miles to crash the party of his estranged wife-who he’s been accused of abusing-just so he could intimidate her current boyfriend, New York Knicks Coach Derek Fisher, for messing with his property. He’s been a great player since he’s been in the league. We define ourselves by what we do, not by what we say. “Greg understands that now and that’s how we’re going (inaudible) going forward”.
“I hope I come out guns blazin'”, said Hardy.
Hardy, as you’ll recall, was convicted of assault previous year after his girlfriend testified that he beat her up, choked her and threw her onto a couch covered in assault rifles. Hardy expressed excitement in facing Brady, and then chuckled when he mentioned Brady’s wife, model Gisele Bundchen.
A heated New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys match-up is on the way, and now Tom Brady and Greg Hardy are making headlines for a few commentary that is not exactly related to the game ahead. Hardy, who played in Carolina before signing with the Cowboys in March, replied to the tweet: “didn’t the twin towers get blown up lol”. He’s got good instinct and feel for the game, so we do think he will pick things up quickly. I didn’t play football until I was a freshman in high school.
“I am not aware of the comments, so I can’t respond to the comments because I haven’t seen them”.
Among other controversial comments, Hardy also said Brady is “cool as crap”.
But don’t expect the Patriots to say anything bulletin board-worthy in return. “My parents always exposed us to different things, different sports”. He hasn’t been on the field yet because of a domestic violence-related suspension by the NFL. He also wouldn’t mind seeing her sister and friends either. I hope she comes to the game.
Let’s hope Hardy keeps his guns away from the field on Sunday and finds a way to actually stay out of the news until then. Commissioner Roger Goodell gave Hardy a 10-game suspension this season, but it was reduced to just four games thanks to help from the NFLPA.
