Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC to include microtransactions
Noah Hughes says the newly revealed Season Pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider will allow gamers to get access to a range of extra content over the four months after the release. Once you’ve mastered the mission, challenge your friends and the community to beat your high score.
Rise of the Tomb Raider’s season pass contains an Endurance mode that will challenge you to “extreme conditions”. Common Cards can be spent only once, then have to be re-purchased to be used again. Effects vary from cosmetic, humorous things like Big Head mode to increasing the challenge or giving the player special advantages.
On the microtransaction front, the publisher explained these will take the form of game-modifying items called “Expedition Cards”. These “expedition cards” have been listed in various different categories, which will probably be the different denominations available on release.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will be receiving a Season Pass, and today, we’re learning the first details of what future downloadable content will be included. You can buy cards from the credits you earn in game by completing challenges.
Chapter Replay Elite – Replay earlier chapters of the story with your upgraded skills and equipment and complete challenges to earn credits.
Hughes adds, “When used, Expedition Cards become modifiers in game modes outside of the single player campaign”.
Pre-ordering the game will give you the bonus Remnant Resistance Pack, which comes with the Remnant outfit for Lara, a collection of animal skins and ancient Byzantine armour. It’ll be a few time before the game reaches our motherboard-shores with the Xbox exclusivity deal in place, so it’s possible not all these features will make it. Around 300 cards will be available at launch and offer hundreds of ways to customize the game experience. Craft your own missions by choosing the objectives, enemies and more.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is set to launch on Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 10th.
