One person dead, 3 wounded after shooting at Northern Arizona University
The shooting was a result of a fight between two students, officials said.
This unfortunate fatality comes a mere week after the horrifying shooting at Umpqua Community College.
Texas Southern University was placed on lockdown on Friday with classes cancelled after a shooting occurred at a Houston apartment complex owned by the university. And I can say without a doubt that Flagstaff will only grow stronger in hard moments like these. Their conditions have not been disclosed.
The NAU shooting was described as “an isolated and unprecedented incident”.

The shooter, identified by campus police as Steven Jones, surrendered his handgun to campus police and was taken into custody not long after the 1:20 a.m. incident, authorities said.
Jones told police that he used a flashlight affixed to the gun to illuminate the area before firing. They would not say what precipitated the altercation.
The university has identified the student who died as Colin Brough. The three students who were injured have been identified as Nicholas Prato, Kyle Zientek and Nicholas Piring. “Our hearts go out to those folks at Northern Arizona, and we just hope that they’re able to get on a path to recovery and that they can care for the people who are victims in this case”.
University president Rita Hartung Cheng said she was “shocked and deeply saddened”.

Northern Arizona University’s Flagstaff campus has 20,000 students and is a gun-free zone, Brown said. Four people were shot, with one being fatal.
Mountain View Hall is “a dormitory which houses most of the campus’ students involved in Greek organizations”, ABC News reported.
