‘Fear the Walking Dead’ Season 2 Spoilers: The Survivors Will Now Battle
When told that most producers and networks would jump at the chance of a crossover between the two shows to boost ratings, Hurd said that their focus is on how to care for the characters, just like the way they did with “The Walking Dead”.
Huffington Post caught up with the now-15-year-old actress ahead of this Sunday’s Season 6 premiere, where she reminisced about her time on the set. Not only would there be new characters and new locations, but things would take place in the past. And what’s interesting is having the realization that you are capable of something like that. To a few extent, we saw that sort of exploration in The Walking Dead, particularly in Season 2, in which the characters spent the majority of the season on Herschel’s (Scott Wilson) farm.
He has latched on to Nick as a useful ally and although we’re not sure we can fully trust him yet, we reckon Nick is better being on his team than against him right now. The long summer is over and we are finally heading back to Alexandria… but, for how long? And in doing that, that creates this incredible dramatic tension between our group… Rick in particular took a no tolerance stance, taking an approach of unapologetic brutality in murdering Pete, a fellow Alexandrian. He’s basically turned into Shane. How do you draw the line between the difference of the two places – or are they more similar than they expect? The residents of Alexandria don’t trust Rick after his outburst on the streets. Had one of the secondary actors lost a hand, or someone who was only around for a couple of episodes, it would have been a lot easier and cheaper to show them coping without that particular body part. So that you’re constantly reminded that this is a very small community surrounded by these metal walls, this perimeter fence, and that the outside world is there…

What FTWD promises us is a closer look at what it would be like for everyday people to go through the apocalypse. It was Deanna who wanted to exile Rick – though she was also the one who urged him to exterminate Pete when the doctor lapsed into a murderous rage. Last season, he was rediscovered and eventually recovered.
Rick and Carl set out to their hometown on a run for supplies. Fear contained solid acting from its leads and Curtis, along with Kim Dickens’ Madison, provided a good adult anchor for most of the show. Certainly in the world of the show, it seems he’s been proven correct; but behind the scenes, how do you guys discuss in the writer’s room? So, I was prepared to do the same with the six-episode spinoff, “Fear of the Walking Dead”, which mercifully ended last Sunday.
On “The Walking Dead”, easier said than done. “Somebody will come in here and they will try to slaughter you”. Or even if they do. Because that’s what’s insane, that they can’t see that they have been completely shielded from everything.
The final episode of Fear the Walking Dead series one airs on BT TV (Channel 332 SD, 381 in HD) on Monday (October 5) at 9pm. And we’ll see you back here after that for more from Nicotero.
