Three PSNI venues evacuated in the North due to security alerts
The Strule Arts Centre in Omagh, the Waterfoot Hotel in Londonderry and Belfast Metropolitan College’s Titanic Quarter and Millfield campuses were evacuated.
“Suspicions for these alerts will obviously fall on dissident republicans, but the response to the recent PSNI recruitment campaign is a positive sign that they will not be successful in dragging us back”.
POLICE are now investigating security alerts in Belfast, Derry and Omagh.
Yesterday, Thursday, October 8, a PSNI recruitment familiarisation event at the Waterfoot was officially postponed.
The PSNI said that a wedding reception was also due to take place at the hotel tomorrow, and the decision was taken to cancel the recruitment event “out of respect for the bride and groom”.
Those responsible have been roundly condemned.
“However, past experience has shown that intimidation and threat won’t stop people choosing policing as a career and we know that there are already a large number of applications submitted for this latest competition”.
There is traffic chaos in Derry this evening as a result of the Foyle Bridge being closed in both directions due to an ongoing security alert in the city. “I’d just like to condemn these types of activities”.
