Rotherham United: Neil Redfearn is new Millers boss
The Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart and Board have been searching for a new manager for ten days and the rumours are that the search could be finished sooner rather than later.
Alan Stubbs and Dean Smith are both still in the race but Neil Redfearn seems all-but-confirmed to be heading to the New York Stadium.
All the bookies seem to be swaying towards former Leeds United Manager Neil Redfearn with possibly bringing Steve Thompson back to the Millers as his second in command.
The former Leeds United boss succeeds Steve Evans, who left the Yorkshire club at the end of September.
I’m not expecting Redfearn to lead us on a sudden charge up the table.
Redfearn’s first game as Millers boss will be the trip to fellow strugglers Brentford on Saturday, 17 October.
The 50-year-old will be presented to the media at a press conference on Monday.
He returned to his role as academy coach at the end of the season amid a hard relationship with owner Massimo Cellino before leaving the club in July.
“Redfearn also enjoyed a long and illustrious playing career which included spells in the Premier League with Barnsley, Charlton Athletic and Bradford City, whilst he also enjoyed time with the likes of Crystal Palace, Oldham Athletic and Doncaster Rovers”.
The Millers are now 21st in the Championship, having picked up eight points from their 10 league matches so far.
