Suspect named in 23-year-old murder case
His trip to the furniture store was the last time Woods was seen alive, and the last person to be seen with him was Perone, officials said.
“Certainly she was in tears, probably in relief”, Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said Friday during a press onference announcing the arrest of Sam Perone, 67, of Phoenix, Thursday. His body was discovered in a wooded area alongside Middleboro Road in Washington Township on November 9, 1992. But Fornshell declined to discuss motive and says it will be a hard case. He was visiting Perone’s store, Just Living Rooms, on business, the report stated.
Various media reports say Perone was named in a sealed indictment earlier this month, and was arrested Thursday at his Phoenix home. A message was left Friday for a Lebanon attorney who has represented Perone in the past.
Warren County deputies have their suspect in a 23-year-old murder investigation. They in recent years have used newer forensic techniques to develop evidence.
Investigators determined that he had been shot in the head and dumped in the woods. He added that publicity about continued efforts to solve the cold case led new witnesses to come forward.
Court data present that 67-year-old Sam Perone (PIR’-ohn) of Phoenix was arrested. That’s what these guys and gals worked for all these years was justice.
