LeBron James is now endorsed by a midsize pizza chain
LeBron James is no longer lovin’ it: The National Basketball Association star isn’t renewing his endorsement contract with McDonald’s, reports ESPN.
Blaze Pizza has one location in Palm Beach County – in Boca Raton.
James’s deal with McDonald’s was signed in 2010, and he’s since starred in numerous ad campaigns for the McNugget slingers.
Ah, James and his side chain-together at last. “Consumers are skeptical unless they believe that the celebrity actually uses the product and is invested in the brand”. “He’s a powerful brand ambassador and he has the megaphone of social media”.
McDonald which was once synonymous with American fast food begins to lose much of its sheen to newer niche fast food players, celebrities appear to be moving away from the restaurant chain.
The term “the Chipotle of X” has been egregiously overused as a marketing platitude trying to lure Millennials away from Taco Bell-but Blaze really is poised to be the Chipotle of the pizza world.
Asked when he got serious about working out, James admitted it wasn’t until he was 24.
The globally-known athlete is also a franchisee of the brand in Chicago and Miami, in partnership with operator Levy Restaurants, which now has 10 units in those markets.
James was one of Blaze Pizza’s founding investors three years ago, along with former California First Lady Maria Shriver, Boston Red Sox chairman Tom Werner and movie producer John Davis. With a dress code that encourages individual expression and a “say yes” service philosophy that empowers employees to delight those they serve, the company promotes an unconventional spirit that celebrates individuality and reflects the values of both team members and guests. The latest trend that is catching up with the restaurant chains in the pizza business is- ‘customizable pizza’.
“At the end of the line, your pie hits the oven where, according to a company press release, “dedicated pizzasmiths” ensure the thin-crust pies are fast-fired and ready to eat in just 180 seconds”. The company had worked with James since 2010. “While the parties mutually chose to end the relationship, we wish him the best in his future endeavors”, Lisa McComb, McDonald’s director of media relations, said in a statement.
