Cheerios Recall Affects Guam, Public Health Says
General Mills did not ship these cereals to Canada.
It looks like they’ve had to go back on their word.
This recall affects Honey Nut Cheerios and classic Cheerios in the yellow box with the “better if used by date of July 14, 2016”.
He added that the company’s oat supply and oat flour being used at the Lodi plant were tested on the dates in question, and both were found to be gluten-free. This “undeclared allergen” would be detrimental to those with wheat allergies, celiac disease or gluten intolerance.
While Island Fresh has since removed the affected products from its shelves, residents with these products are encouraged to either return the cereal to the store they purchased it from or contact the manufacturer General Mills.
Cheerios and its varieties are a very beloved cereal, and this event has proven to be an unfortunate one, causing issues for kids and adults alike.
Foster’s Food Fair – IGA would like to announce that General Mills Inc.is recalling 1.8 million boxes of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios produced at a plant in Lodi, California, saying the cereal is labeled gluten-free but actually contains wheat.
According to FDA, most people can eat gluten, but in people with celiac disease, gluten intake gradually damages the intestines, prevents the absorption of vitamins and minerals, and can lead to other health problems.
