AT&T making Wi-Fi calls available
The Mac Observer reached out to AT&T to find out if the older model iPhones will be able to get in on Wi-Fi calling. Under the Calls section, turn on Wi-Fi Calling.
A compatible iPhone with the operating system known as iOS 9 installed.
The feature can be found in the Settings app by tapping “Phone” and opening the “Wi-Fi Calling” menu.
Wi-Fi Calling is something AT&T subscribers have been demanding for a few time now ever since T-Mobile and Verizon announced the availability of the service in their networks.
Per the FCC waiver, AT&T WiFi calling doesn’t work with TTY (text telephone) devices that enable people who are deaf, hard of hearing of speech impaired to use the phone to communication by typing messages back and forth. There is no additional cost to set this up, but Wi-Fi calls can only be made for free if they’re between US, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Island numbers.
A Wi-Fi Internet connection, such as at home or the office. AT&T said this information can help first responders locate you in the event that you someday need to place a 911 call and your location data is not available.
