1 dead, 3 wounded in university shooting in Ariz

The victims haven’t been publicly identified; they are all male, Fowler said. The lockdown on campus was lifted at 3:16 a.m. Pacific time Friday when the situation was called “stabilized”. Frightened NAU students took to social media to vent their terror and heartbreak over the tragedy, asking for prayers and support.

We awake this morning to a bad tragedy on our Flagstaff campus. The name of the dead student has not been identified either, but that he was a freshman.

Fowler said it appeared Brough and the three other injured victims had been shot multiple times.

Police say the shooting erupted in a confrontation between two student groups.

Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick’s (D) district includes Flagstaff.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of the victims as well as the entire community in Flagstaff”.

Details are still sketchy, but a shooting last night at Northern Arizona University left one dead and three injured. Shooter is in custody.

Delta Chi global Fraternity executive director Justin Sherman said the four victims were members of the fraternity but the alleged gunman was not.

“We do not have any information on the victims nor do we know if the deceased individual is a member of the Fraternity”, the statement said. The student wasn’t targeting random students on campus in the conflict.

A student killed in an overnight shooting at Northern Arizona University graduated from Castle View High School in 2013, officials said Friday. Westview High School confirmed that a student by that name graduated in 2013.

The shooting happened outside the Courtyard Apartments on Blodgett at Canfield around 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Meanwhile, classes are expected to go on as scheduled. The wounded were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center.

G.T. also said that “nothing happened inside of [NAU’s] residence halls”, and that the incident was isolated to a parking lot outside the Mountain View Hall on the northeast end of NAU. Their current conditions are unclear.
