Rutgers reinstates wide receiver Carroo after charges tossed
After completing his first practice in nearly four weeks, Rutgers receiver Leonte Carroo said he was blessed to be back with the team.
The charges of simple assault from that case were dismissed Tuesday.
Carroo is immediately eligible and would figure to play this weekend against Michigan State. “I’m relieved that the case is behind me and it’s dismissed. I’m just happy to be back and have this whole thing behind me”.
He was accused of attacking his former girlfriend… She called police, and Caroo was charged with simple assault under domestic violence for allegedly pushing her to the concrete. “But like I said, this was a very unfortunate event”. “I went on my IPad to make sure I stayed up to par mentally with the team”. “They know what type of guy I am, and hopefully the National Football League scouts will know, too”.
“The people that know me and were there from Day 1 know what happened”, Carroo said. I’ve been a really good kid growing up.
Will Carroo start Saturday, or if he doesn’t, will there be any drop in performance if he plays?
He will also be required to attend six hours of anger management classes, NJ.com said.
Coach Kyle Flood says Carroo agreed to a few undisclosed conditions and “accepted the responsibility” that comes with his return to the team.
Flood is now serving a three-game suspension, which will be completed after the Michigan game.
“I really don’t want to get into that”, Carroo said. Following the normal Thursday press conference from acting head coach Norries Wilson, Carroo answered questions.
Although he missed the installation of the game plan, Wilson is confident Carroo will be up to speed mentally. “He’s made a few mistakes”.
The alleged victim in that incident worked for Rutgers football as a recruiting ambassador.
That day, Caroo responded, “Yes, your honor”.
“It hurt to be away from the team”, Carroo said. They can talk to my family and friends.
