Google Nexus 5X, 6P India prices revealed
The new Nexus 6P phone is displayed during a Google media event on September 29, 2015 in San Francisco, California.
The move by Google could be seen as an effect of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to the West Coast in the United States during which he met the newly-appointed Indian-born Google chief executive Sundar Pichai.
Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, both running the new Android 6.0 operating system known as Marshmallow, have been developed in partnership with LG and Huawei, respectively.
The 5.2-inch Nexus 5X is built by LG and the successor to arguably one of the most cherished Android smartphones, the 2013 Nexus 5. Just like the Nexus 6P, it also has 1.55um pixels on its camera so that you can take “great pictures in any light” and 4K resolution. The 5X is priced at $379 (Rs 31,900 for the 16 GB model, India), and the 6P priced at $499 (Rs 39,999 for the 32GB model, India).
The cheaper 5X has a 5.2 inch screen, weighs 136g, and a new battery boasting 20% greater capacity than its predecessor, the Nexus 5. Meanwhile there is no information about the availability of the LG Nexus 5X.
The device is powered by a Snapdragon 810 v2.
Speaking at the launch, Andrei Popescu, an engineering director within Google’s Android team, said: “Marshmallow is our most polished version of Android to date”.
Both flagships include a fingerprint sensor and access to Android Pay (for U.S. users). Specs also show that the Nexus 5X can shoot slow-motion video at 120 frames per second while the Nexus 6P can do 240 frames per second.
Internet giant Google introduced its sixth iteration of the Android operating system named Marshmallow which will be available to users on Nexus devices.
Android Marshmallow has a new feature called as Doze which is created to reduce battery consumption when the phone is not in use. All these prices are off-contract and Google say that both devices will work with all major mobile network carriers.
