Marvel announces Ant-Man sequel, Phase 3 update
When Marvel originally revealed their plans for Phase 3, conspicuously missing was a date for Ant-Man 2. In a scene during the end credits, Hope was presented with the Wasp costume by her father, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas).
Ahead of the release, new Japanese promotional material for the Captain America sequel shows the suits of the Avengers in the film. The schedule change will also effect the upcoming Marvel Studios movie Captain Marvel, which will move from its original release date of November 2, 2018 all the way back to March 8, 2019.
Giving the movie this title over simply Ant-Man 2 indicates we’ll be seeing a lot more of Hope Van Dyne this time around.
According to Marvel at least, “Ant-Man” is doing something right, and the studio has shuffled its pack to accommodate “Ant-Man And The Wasp” on July 6, 2018. Ant-Man is the #9 film of the year domestically (not bad for a movie fans had no real expectations for) and will open in China (its last worldwide market) on October. 16. Black Panther, which just hired writer Joe Robert Cole, is being bumped up from July 8, 2018 to February 16, 2018, the earliest in a year a Marvel movie has ever debuted.
Ready for Phase 3?
As hinted in this summer’s Ant-Man, Rudd is next scheduled to appear in Captain America: Civil War, which will hit screens May 5, 2016.
Black Panther will tell the story of the first black superhero in mainstream American comics with superhumanly acute senses, increase strength, speed, stamina, reflexes, and agility to Olympic-levels, the star of the movie will be actor Chadwick Boseman.
Disney, which crossed the $4 billion box office mark for 2015 this week, set dates and a few titles involving 19 films through 2020 in a very big announcement that included four live-action fairy tales.
