Watch Jay Leno Return to The Tonight Show
Well, Tuesday night, Leno made his way back to the Tonight Show to take over the monologue from Fallon.
“I think he’s doing fine; I knew he’d be good”, says Leno. He told Michael, for example that he drives an electric Tesla sedan (“I am sure a few left-wing environmentalists’ heads are exploding”), and Anne that he lives in West Palm Beach, Florida. Did you see this, Ralph Nader called Hillary Clinton a corporatist and a militarist.
I mean, I’m not going to insult her. I’m not going to make her feel cheap.
In addition to Tuesday’s performance, Leno also gave an interview to AdWeek that was published this week.
His new show, “Jay Leno’s Garage”, debuts Wednesday night on CNBC.
He left for a short time in 2009 to host The Jay Leno Show. and had his last episode of Tonight on February 2014.
While the takeover of the monologue of the Tonight Show was fun, Fallon fans can remain secure that Leno is not coming back on a permanent basis. In it, Jay covers all things automotive including classic cars, super cars, restoration projects, road tests, investments and the inner workings of the vehicle collectors’ market.
“When you have to look an audience in the eye, you’re not quite as fearless as when you’re just talking into a microphone”, Leno added.
And if the Republican race comes down to Jeb Bush against Donald Trump, it will be like “the tortoise and the bad hair”.
Nowadays, late night is a love fest, with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Fallon, Trevor Noah, Seth Meyers, Larry Wilmore, embroiled in nothing more than mutual respect and friendly banter.
