Traffic the biggest concern in LA
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti was on hand Thursday as the philanthropic foundation announced the funding commitment in celebration of its 100th anniversary.
Film L.A., the local film permitting office, released a report this week indicating television production in Los Angeles posted its busiest quarter since 2010 during the third-quarter growth, driven primarily by a 54.5 percent jump in scripted television activity over the same quarter a year ago. “We are so good at privately saying what we love about L.A. and then publicly bitching”, said Garcetti (to laughs from the crowd).
Lady Gaga’s appearance on “American Horror Story” is bringing added attention to the series, which now films in Los Angeles.
The California Community Foundation funds would help address those issues and others.
The USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll of 1,500 adults living in L.A. County indicated that Southern Californians’ reliance on their vehicle-and the speed at which it is taking them-is foremost on their minds. The findings show a need to raise awareness about the complex needs of L.A. County, establish a common ground across diverse communities and provide residents with meaningful opportunities to contribute so that everyone is inspired to a play role in building a better region.

A new study has found that people worry more about gridlock than anything else here in Los Angeles County. Taleen Ananian, a foundation spokesperson, said the organization was optimistic that it can meet the $1 billion fundraising goal.
