George Miller has two ‘Mad Max’ sequels planned
If you’re one of the many people who loved Mad Max: Fury Road and were hoping for a sequel, director George Miller has a few good news for you.
“Fury Road” will have two more sequels, indicated its director.
Ahead of a talk on creating Fury Road at the Graphic Festival on Sunday, Miller said it grew out of his “strong sense of inquiry”. “I’ve always been interested in mythology”. “They’re what I call hypnagogic dreams or daydreaming – that place between sleep and wakefulness”.
But what began as with a forbidden fascination with comics has grown into one of the most successful film franchises of all time.
Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Theron, Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, achieved both critical and commercial success back in May. It sounds like the next movie won’t be happening immediately, though. But, the vehicles seen in the movie aren’t your ordinary middle-of-the-road runarounds. “And it’s just a blueprint, it’s not the final thing”. Not only that, the market for sequels becoming bigger breakouts than the originals is actually pretty rare today, and it might be better to have a smaller budget for a Mad Max sequel.
These storyboards became much more than a visual script for the cast and crew.
“Take Coma for instance”, says Miller. “Out of habit now, stories are playing in my head all the time”.
“It happened with everything”. How the steering wheels became religious artefacts and things like that. “So the vision has primacy”. This is assuming that their DC Cinematic Universe won’t take off.
Mad Max: Fury Road had spent almost twenty years in various stages of development, reported Gamespot.
George Miller surprised and delighted the fans of “Mad Max” films, by indicating there are two scripts being mulled-on. You’re drawing on speculations as to the future we may be heading towards. It’s also been said that there is a spinoff following Charlize Theron’s character Furiosa in the works with a script and art ready to go that just needs a greenlight.
