Apple sets opening weekend record by selling 13 million iPhones

The company had sold 10 million units in the first weekend a year ago.

Live Photos, on the other hand, brings still images to life by “capturing a moment in motion”, revealing the moments immediately before and after the photo was taken to create something akin to a GIF. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are available through apple.com, at Apple retail locations and at authorized Apple resellers such as Best Buy.

The new iPhones were officially unveiled by Apple at a major product launch event held on September 9. The company is now preparing to launch the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in an additional 40 countries on October 9th, where even more sales are expected.

It also offers more powerful built-in apps, a redesigned Notes app and an all-new News app that gives a different reading experience than the previous Apple operating systems.
