Rise of the Tomb Raider’s “Season Pass” detailed
Rise of The Tomb Raider is the next chapter in the popular Tomb Raider series. There are two types of Expedition Cards: Foil and Common.
Packs contain common cards, which can be used a single time, and foil cards, which can be used repeatedly.
Now it’s not all bad news, these cards can be bought with credits, which are earnable in-game for those who’d rather grind than spend any extra money.
Cold Darkness Awakened – a wave-based mode where you’ll be required to fend off infected predators. Rise of the Tomb Raider, it’s been confirmed in an interview, will feature microtransactions in the form of Expedition Cards which offer “hundreds of ways” to modify the game.
A few of these modifiers are just for fun, like Big Head Mode, while a few will “increase the challenge or give you special advantages”. Complete challenges and collect medals to earn credits! You can include the Expedition Cards you want featured, and others can use these Cards even if they don’t have them in their collection.
Remnant Resistance lets you replay hub spaces with different goals, enemies, and so on.
300 Expedition Cards will be available at launch, with more emerging over the subsequent months.
The Chapter Replay mode is essentially a “New Game Plus” mode letting players go through the entire game from the beginning while still keeping their skills and equipment from the first play-through. “You can also set up challenges for your friends to see if they can beat your scores with the same card setup”, Hughes said. A few unique new game modes have been added plus we know more on what the Season Pass will include.
This means Rise of the Tomb Raider won’t land on PS4 until “Holiday 2016”, as the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions are due for release on November 10, 2015. If you haven’t picked it up yet, I highly recommend grabbing the Definitive Edition of Tomb Raider that is now free on Games With Gold. The follow-up will then make the jump to PC platforms and PlayStation systems in 2016.
