Marvel Battlegrounds Playset Trailer – Disney Infinity 3.0
Disney Interactive, hoping to revive flagging sales of Infinity, revealed details for next spring’s release of the “Marvel Battlegrounds” play set for the hybrid “toys-to-life” Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition.
Compatibile with all Disney Infinity Marvel characters, Marvel Battlegrounds supports the widest selection of playable characters in a Play Set – including the new Hulkbuster, Ultron and Captain America – The First Avenger figures with more to be announced. Disney promises additional Marvel Battlegrounds figures will be announced in the coming months.
The older Marvel heroes and villain figures will also receive a move set update, to compliment the newest features that are being added in Marvel Battlegrounds. Developed by United Front Games in conjunction with Avalanche Software, Marvel Battlegrounds will feature four-player, arcade brawler gameplay and a brand new story that will see Ultron and Loki join forces in an attempt to procure one of the Infinity Stones.
Narratively, the newest Disney Infinity set will see Loki and Ultron team up in their latest bid to take down the Marvel universe. What humour there is tends to be gentle, and largely comes from the central conceit that in Disney Infinity, all of the characters and all of the play-worlds are actually toys. Players will fight as the Marvel Super Heroes across a number of iconic environments that include a wrecked Brooklyn train yard, Wakanda, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Lunar Base, and finally, a battle against Ultron himself.
Straight out of the box, the Disney Infinity 3.0 starter pack offers gamers a Clone Wars and prequels-inspired Twilight Of The Republic campaign, and as of this week, everybody can buy a few add-on gameplay based on the original trilogy.
In the meantime, interested fans can get a close look at the Play Set during the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition: Facing Off in Marvel’s Battlegrounds panel at New York Comic-Con. Our review called 3.0 bigger and better than its predecessors.
