More Than One Third Of Vegetarians Admit To Eating Meat When Drinking
Vegetarians secretly eat meat after a night out drinking.
It appears that these slip-ups aren’t limited to a once-off, moment of madness either, a United Kingdom poll has confirmed.
The survey of 1,789 Brits who claimed to be vegetarians found that 37% of the respondents admitted to eating meat after having too much to drink. And the answer? The traditional, post-pub guilty pleasure: kebab meat.
Meat-munching drunk vegetarians: media-concocted ruse or growing epidemic?
The most popular drunken indulgences were kebabs (39 percent), which are ubiquitous in the U.K, and beef burgers (34 percent).
Researchers learned that the average amount spent on meat by vegetarians when drunk was £4.80 or around $7.
“I think it’s important for friends of these “vegetarians” to support them when drunk and urge them not to eat meat as I’m sure they regret it the next day”, advised Charles.
While this particular survey was conducted across the pond, research shows that American vegetarians aren’t always so saintly in their veggie virtues. But the majority of those polled who admit they’ve fallen of the vegetarian wagon while imbibing say it happens a lot. Others didn’t see the diet as part of their identity.
