Sony is dropping the price of the PS4 to $350
Sony‘s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One both made their debuts in November 2013, and the two consoles have been in fierce competition with one another ever since. Later this week in Canada, Sony will also be reducing the prices of its standard 500GB console from $449.99 CAD (about $345) to $429.99 CAD. This new price has been unveiled as part of the new holiday lineup which ensures you to grab the console and games at a reasonable price. For example, the bundle including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will retail for $349.99 (CAD $429.99), In this case, the game is a freebie.
A Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars PS4 bundle will sell for $399.99 and a Star Wars Battlefront bundle will sell for $349.99.
Microsoft’s Xbox One has been permanently dropped to $349.99 in June. In US dollar equivalence, it costs about $1,700 to buy a PS4 in Brazil.
Basically, in that horizontal information bar, Sony have whacked an advert for Destiny in it, which might annoy you if you’re anti-adverts, but you can opt-out of those too if you want. Koller is absolutely right; lowering the cost of game consoles typically does bring in a flood of new users who weren’t able or willing to purchase at higher prices.
PS4 fans overseas should note that Sony hasn’t introduced a PS4 price cut in all regions.
National Hockey League 16 console bundle is available only for Canada at the moment although it is likely to be introduced in the United States very soon.
Over the past couple of years, Sony has shipped 25.45 million PlayStation 4 units. While a $50 savings is not exactly a shock and awe moment in the history of gaming, it’s an aggressive maneuver since the PS4’s been consistently outselling the Xbox One.
So why did Sony cut its price?
