No. 12 Florida State looks to continue dominance over Miami

The fortunes of both programs have gone in different directions since that game.

Everyone seems to be all doom and gloom about the Miami Hurricanes so I figured I’d share an old story about the FSU-Miami rivalry that should make you all chuckle.

Many believe Miami has taken a step back with Al Golden, but the Hurricanes are scoring points this year at 37 per game, piling up offense at almost 461 per game and looking for a big win on the road. Before kickoff, someone from the Florida State athletic department found him and said that a county sheriff deputy was going to shadow him the entire game to make sure he didn’t go on the field.

“If a player wanted to go to the National Football League, he’d come to Miami because we played a great schedule and because we played on television”, Johnson said.

“It’d be big”, Golden said. And following Miami’s frustrating loss to Cincinnati, his firing became a foregone conclusion, at least in the world of fans and analysts. It was out there that they would simulate the scenario Beita had in that game.

Dating back to it’s last loss in Tallahassee, Miami went 2-8 in games played after losing to Florida State. But the Seminoles rallied for a 30-26 victory.

Up in the panhandle Florida State is certainly unproven early this season and seemingly ripe for a fall.

“I thought we played with a lot confidence past year”.

“He’s learning the offense more”, junior receiver Bobo Wilson said of Golson. We let them down, we feel like. A big win for the Noles on Florida’s campus could widen the gap between the two programs. “We know Florida State will be fired up”. Everett Golson has thrown for 786 yards and seven touchdowns under center. At Notre Dame last season Golson threw 14 interceptions and lost eight fumbles.

Golson’s turnover problems were repeatedly addressed by the media while he shopped his services this spring, but he has 106 attempts this season without one. All but one of his touchdown passes has come in the second half and his 176.81 passer rating after halftime is 13th nationally. Sophomore Joseph Yearby (424 yards, four touchdowns) powers the rushing attack and is ninth in the country at 7.3 yards per carry. A player of his caliber won’t be on campus for long, but while he’s in Tallahassee, he’ll give Leonard Hamilton an elite wing scorer who could possibly take over a game. Cook, a sophomore and Miami native, leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in rushing with 570 yards.

Aguayo, who is 4 of 5 this season, also knows because of the history of the series, this is the game where he gets more attention than usual. “Get that dog in us”, Florida State star cornerback Jalen Ramsey told the school’s website, Seminoles.com, following the win against the Demon Deacons. In another game, Oklahoma State was incorrectly awarded a first down after a marker was misplaced, and that led to a touchdown during its 36-34 win over Kansas State.

MICHIGAN: Logan Tuley-Tillman, an offensive lineman dismissed from the team a month ago, appeared in an Ann Arbor, Mich., courtroom facing three felony counts – two counts of capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person and one count of using computers to commit a crime.

And what Florida State fans need to realize is: This isn’t anything new for Fisher’s quarterbacks.
