Note found at Dover Area High School threatened violence
Police in Idaho have arrested a teenage boy for allegedly sending threatening messages claiming he would “kill all the girls” at his high school.
Additional messages between the teen and his friend suggested his motivation for wanting to kill girls at his school.
Dianne Brush of the Pocatello police told PEOPLE that possible student suspects were interviewed and the school was placed on lockdown. “Everyone hates me. and I hate [name obscured]”. “In [sic] serious I have a 12 gauge shotgun and a 9 mm pistol I will bring and start killing everyone”.
Highland High School officials alerted police yesterday of threats posted on Facebook and Twitter. “I also have hunting knives I can bring”.
The texts laid out the student’s alleged plan of shooting female students before killing himself in the school weight room.
‘School officials notified the School Resource Officer, who is an officer with the Pocatello Police Department, and they immediately began investigating the threat.
After the high school was checked out and it was determined that the threat was unfounded, the lock down was lifted around 10 a.m., police said. He is now being held at a juvenile detention center.
“We taken every concern seriously, so just as a precaution we’re controlling access in and out of the building”.
Shelley Allen, Community Relations and Communications Specialist with Pocatello/Chubbuck School District No. 25, says that the reason for the controlled access is not being disclosed at this time because it is still under investigation.
The contents of the threatening note are not being released because the investigation is ongoing, according to police.
