Chelsea Clinton Reacts to Hillary Clinton’s SNL Appearance: “I Won the Mom”
Hillary Clinton, of course, was elected to the Senate in 2000 and her stance on gay marriage shifted over the next 13 years when she finally said, after leaving the State Department, that she was fully on board.
Chelsea Clinton has waded into the world of light-entertainment interviews to aide her mother’s presidential campaign, with her sit-down with Ellen DeGeneres revealed an intriguing insight into Hillary Clinton’s support for same-sex marriage.
“That was real intense, my Puerto Rican temper would be like ‘excuse me?'” Sanchez said after Clinton finished presenting her award. “I have a couple fantastic senators and I have a great representative in New York City if at a few point that weren’t true I’d have to ask and answer that question, but Ellen I’d hope you’d ask and answer that question too”.
When Hillary Clinton rolled out a series of new gun control proposals this week, one of the most newsworthy and controversial ideas she put forth was a vow to use executive action as president to fix the background check system if Congress refused to act.
Ramos then proceeded to chant “Hillary we’re watching. Each dollar of private prison money accepted by the Clinton campaign undermines her pro-immigrant policy promises, and our community will not be fooled”.
Hillary Clinton, in her statement this week, made clear that in opposition to positions taken by Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and even John McCain she will not revive Roosevelt’s sensible restriction if she is elected. “And I’m running for president to end them, once and for all”, Clinton later added. She wants to lengthen the instant background check process indefinitely by changing the amount of time the Federal Bureau of Investigation has to conduct extended checks. “The other party doesnt want to run against her. And if they do, theyd like her as mangled up as possible, Clinton said”.
Holding up a sign that read “Hillary for immigrants in prisons”, Juan Carlos Ramos of the advocacy organization United We Dream Action stood near the stage, yelling at Clinton as she spoke over him. For male candidates, it’s a way to show they’re affable family guys – a little inept, game for being domestic, but not accustomed to it. For a woman, however, being seen sweating over a hot stove is a loser whether she looks comfortable or not.
‘That’s kind of what you can contribute, ‘ she joked. “The first time that someone asked me whether I would have a political career, I think I was about three”.
Hearing that, DeGeneres called her out. “I know I am right”, he said.
The most hopeful thing to be said about this deeply disappointing abandonment of the president she served, and the internationalist tendency in Democratic ideology she once embodied, is that it is so transparently political.
While her broader poll numbers have slipped, Clinton is the presidential candidate regularly viewed most positively by Latino voters.
