Liverpool Players Will Love Jurgen Klopp Says Former Red
Klopp has already spoken of his excitement about implementing his style of football at Liverpool and Ayre says the former Dortmund boss’ ideas and philosophies means he is the ideal match for the club.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has also expressed his desire to be a part of Klopp’s backroom staff. It should be seen whether the 40-year-old would be considered for the post.
Former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager Ancelotti, who was also linked with the job, has told reporters he would return to management, but only next season.
Klopp’s first game as Liverpool manager is on October. 17 against Tottenham at White Hart Lane. “I’m a totally normal guy, I’m the Normal One”.
“They have presented to me a very clear vision and I share their ambitions and model of work”, the German, who won two Bundesliga titles with Dortmund, added.
Speaking to talkSPORT (aired at 07:13), John Hartson has questioned how Jurgen Klopp can be considered a success at Liverpool, considering Brendan Rodgers finished second in the Premier League in 2013/14.
“It is not a usual club”.
“It is a really insane discussion I heard about”, he said when asked about the criticism the transfer committee – comprising the manager, chief executive Ian Ayre, FSG president Mike Gordon, director of scouting Dave Fallows, chief scout Barry Hunter and director of technical performance Michael Edwards.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks to all four men for the professionalism, commitment and dedication they have displayed during their time here, and the positive impact they have had in helping to support football operations and the team. It is the ideal next step for me to be here and try and help”.
“I had two very special clubs before and this role is the ideal next step for me”.
We’ll finish with the most handsome line from Klopp: “We have to change from doubters to believers”.
“When I left Dortmund, my last sentence was “It is not so important what people think when you come in, it is much more important what they think what you leave”. For me it’s enough that I have the first and last word [on transfers]. I played a lot of tennis, watched football all over the world. Nobody will sell a player I want to work with, even if it’s a good deal.
