Shia LaBeouf arrested in downtown Austin
Eyewitnesses claim he began running down the street and illegally crossed a road directly in front of police officers, who issued the actor a warning. CBS L.A. reports that LaBeouf was released from the Travis County Jail hours later on his own recognizance. He didn’t. LaBeouf was then arrested without much incident, though People, citing an Austin police official, reported he acted “somewhat belligerent and uncooperative”. It was said that he was warned to stop but he still continued with his weird behaviour until police subdued him and put him in cuffs.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, he was first contacted by authorities in the street near the intersection of Sixth and San Jacinto where he was jaywalking and was arrested on a sidewalk near by around 7:30 p.m. Another witness told TMZ that LaBeouf, who was with a woman, had earlier been denied entry to a bar because he was too drunk.
LeBeouf has had numerous run-ins with the law throughout his acting career. A police representative told KVUE-TV that LaBeouf had allegedly attempted to cross against a “Don’t Walk” sign when he was picked up by cops. In 2007, Shia was booked for refusing to leave a Walgreens in Chicago.
LaBeouf was last seen on the big screen in the post-apocalyptic war thriller “Man Down”. In 2011, he got into a bar fight with another patron in the Sherman Oaks district of Los Angeles.
As for his latest arrest, police say they aren’t releasing any more details. In June 2014, he was arrested at the Broadway musical “Cabaret” in New York for drunken behavior. He will next star in the drama road movie “American Honey”, which opens in theaters on October. 29.
