National Football League 2015: Dallas Cowboys Cursed? Lance Dunbar Torn ACL, Out for Season
IRVING, Texas – There is a lot that comes with dinner, as head coach Jason Garrett likes to say, when you’re the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. As if that weren’t enough, the squad also likely lost Lance Dunbar for the season after he left the game with a vicious knee injury.
The injury came on the opening kickoff of the second half in Sunday’s loss to the New Orleans Saints, as reported by ESPN. “It was nearly a reach last week to put a fourth running back up, so we feel good about the guys we have and they’ll practice this week”. His touchdown pass near the end of regulation sent the game to overtime and gave the Cowboys a short lived breathe of life.
Dallas Cowboys running back Lance Dunbar (25) is tackled by New Orleans Saints middle linebacker Stephone Anthony (50) in the first half of an NFL football game in New Orleans, Sunday, October 4, 2015.
The Dallas Cowboys once again have running back issues. “So it’s kind of a mindset we use as a group, not just the runners, but as a group to understand we’ve got to avoid those situations”.
Brees threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Spiller to give the team a 26-20 overtime victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. “Tony’s such a great leader for our team, and he has such a positive influence on everybody, so him being around and engaged is an important part of what his role is on the team“, Garrett told the press.
Now the question that Cowboys’ fans are asking is whether Randle’s lack of production combined with his lack of maturity on the field is going to lead to a shakeup in the running back rotation. “That’s the reason for our approach as a coaching staff. We believe we can get that rectified”.
-Linebacker Sean Lee (concussion) was sidelined against the Saints. After impressive two wins against division rivals (Giants & Eagles) to start the season, the Romo injury came, and with it two games that showed just how vulnerable the Cowboys are with a limited, obvious offense and a defense that’s thin all over the place.
“We don’t listen to nobody on the outside”, left guard Ronald Leary said.
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady posted on Facebook that he was scouting the Cowboys game last week – watching it on TV. “We had to go to FEMA to get free clothes”.
“When you lose your two franchise players like Tony and Dez, it’s tough, but that’s what happens in this league”, said tight end Jason Witten, who had four catches for 57 yards. And guarantee you they certainly were feeling it the morning after. When he stretched the ball out over the goal line, it was slapped out and recovered by the Saints. The Cowboys have had minus runs on nearly 10 percent of their carries, losing 22 yards on 12 carries (excluding kneel-downs).
