Republican leadership scramble to top Sunday talk shows
“And right now, that’s what we need because the Republicans never win… they never win”. Ryan’s “heart, his soul” is in policy and ideas, he said. “He’s the one guy if he announced, it would be a kind of take-out announcement”.
Price, if put in a leadership position, could look after the interests of both his own district and the state at large, Van Brink added. If that happens, we really do get chaos.
Frustration with the lack of progress in legislating is among the topics that have come to the forefront as congressional Republicans try to elect a new speaker.
A day later, there was exhaustion and unease.
He said he hopes the House will function more efficiently after the leadership shake-up. They worry that if he declines the opportunity, there is no clear alternative.
The 35- to 40-member conservative Freedom caucus, which prompted the current Republican leadership scramble, wants to weaken the office of the House speaker in a power grab, Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) said on Friday.
