Primetime Ratings: CW’s ‘Arrow’, ‘Supernatural’ Premiere With a Pop
Arrow was up from 2014’s premiere in its return to The CW on Wednesday (October 7), according to Nielsen figures.
In nearly matching last week’s overnight household rating, FOX’s “Empire” again reigned as the clear victor in the Wednesday ratings race.
The third episode of season two netted a 5.0 rating/15 share in the advertiser coveted adults 18-49 demographic and just under 13 million viewers.
Still reigning over Wednesday (and the rest of the broadcast week), Empire was only moderately humbled in the third week of its sophomore season. “Arrow” was even with a year ago in adults 18-34 and down a bit in total viewers.
The series, created by Lee Daniels, airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. Eastern on Fox.
Three of ABC’s comedies were down overall, with The Middle garnering 2.0 (7.30m) at 8pm, The Goldbergs interesting 2.1 (6.60m) at 8.30pm and Modern Family dropping three-tenths to 2.7 (7.99m) at 9pm. “Survivor” led its hour in 18-49 (tied), 25-54 and total viewers, while “Code Black” fell 0.4 from last week and still stood as the top broadcast series in its timeslot in total viewers.
ABC was second in the demo for the night, with only Blackish (1.9, 5.8 million), showing an improvement over last week. “Black-ish” closed out the night at 9:30 with a 1.9/6 and 5.9 million viewers. The veteran supernatural drama rose in almost every demo versus last season’s finale, including 29% in adults 18-49 (0.9/3), and delivered the best 18-49 rating in the time period since March 9 2014.
