Post Offices closed on Columbus Day

In Phenix City, garbage will be picked up on Monday, but all non-emergency city offices will be closed, according to the city clerk’s office.

Public schools, state and federal offices and courts, and the stock market, will remain open.

MassRMV branch offices will be closed on Monday, October 12.

Liquor stores: Open at owner’s discretion.

Retail stores: Open at owner’s discretion.

Trash, recycling: Delayed one day. Regularly scheduled mail delivery, PO Box and caller services will also be suspended for the holiday. Check mbta.com for details. Most stores, including Costco, will be open for the Columbus Day Holiday, which many communities have renamed Indigenous People’s Day. In 1971 it was changed to the second Monday in October.
