Miami Hurricanes Football: Miami’s Rally Falls Short, Loses to Florida State

The annual rivalry between the Florida State Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes has brought fans someof the most special moments in college football history.

The Seminoles completely outplayed the Hurricanes in the first half, outgaining Miami 358-178 in total yards and holding the Canes to just two yards on the ground. He scored the game-winner a season ago too.

But the bitter truth is that Miami was going to have to play its best game of the season to come away with a victory over Florida State. Yet, the Seminoles aroused for a 30-26 victory.

“I think it was huge because of the past that Florida State had so many tough games in Miami”.

“And once you get hope, anything can happen”.

It’s great to be a Florida Gator again as UF has started the Jim McElwain-era with five straight wins. “I’m confident that that’ll open up even more doors for us and put us at a whole new level”. “They respected each other and were good friends”. Both programs have had their ups and downs. He also took a screen pass by Golson 36 yards to make it 14-3 late in the first quarter.

Florida is 3-0 is the SEC east standings while Missouri is 1-1.

Three hours before kickoff, a small plane circled over the stadium, pulling behind a banner that called for Miami coach Al Golden to be fired.

On Saturday, we saw the Hurricanes get up for a big game against a big team and nearly deliver. If it rains this week in Coral Gables, Golden will move his team into the school’s indoor volleyball courts and perhaps try to work around the volleyball team’s practice schedule. They are 15-5 in August/September games but when the calendar reaches October1, they are 16-18 the rest of the season.

The mantra in Coral Gables all week has been to “treat it like a regular game”, senior safety Deon Bush said.

Defensively, the Seminoles will have to use their pass rush to stymie Miami quarterback Brad Kaaya.

“I can tell Joe is pumped up for the game and I expect Dalvin to play”, said Miami left tackle Trevor Darling, who also went to Central.

Aguayo stuck out his hand, but Jenkins didn’t shake it. The two conversed animatedly, and UM cornerback Ryan Mayes, a redshirt freshman from Miami, came over and shoved Aguayo on the shoulder. Dalvin Cook is one of the best backs in the country, he’s averaging almost nine yards per carry but is a bit banged up. The Hurricanes sophomore quarterback has played well at times this season but struggled against Cincinnati in his last outing.

There’s no shortage of college football action around the state and beyond Saturday as the season quickly approaches the halfway point. Defensive end DeMarcus Walker had 1½ sacks against Wake.

Until Miami realizes it needs to start spending money – and lots of it – to upgrade its football infrastructure, the Canes will continue to wallow in the abyss of insignificance.

Florida State was fortunate that Miami dropped a number of passes in the first half, but that fortune turned significantly in the second half. The hamstring remains something of a concern, but Florida State has little offense outside of the Human Torch and he’s clearly willing to play through nagging aches and pains. In a lot of cases former teammates have become rivals. The Seminoles finished fourth in the Associated Press poll in 1990 and 1991.
