Jay Leno returns to Tonight Show to promote new show
Legendary late-night host Jay Leno made a surprise appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night!
This is only the latest stop on Leno’s tour of appearances to promote his new CNBC show, Jay Leno’s Garage.
Leno served up a monologue where he dissected the 2016 presidential campaign and then closed with one his classic segments where he channels Rodney Dangerfield and other old-school comics by talking about “how bad” things have gotten.
Which comedian do you think has the best monologue?
Despite the celebrities sprinkled into each episode, Leno said, the show isn’t designed as a star vehicle.
Standing in for current host Jimmy Fallon, Leno opened his over three-minute-plus abbreviated monologue with a slight to ultra-liberal Ralph Nader and recent criticism of Clinton: “See, this”.
“It’s fun to go out and do stand-up because that’s what I like to do”, he said.
“Maybe Jay Leno”, the passenger responded, adding that he’d be “more interesting”.
The rivalry began in the early 1990s when Leno won the job as “Tonight Show” host over Letterman. Bernie Sanders, President Barack Obama, Martin O’Malley, and Marco Rubio got mentions, as did Jeb Bush. I think he’s a talented guy, I think he’s amusing.
Leno also appeared on the Today Show Wednesday morning with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, seemingly having a blast there, as well.
In his explanation of why Kimmel gave Leno “the shiv” as he put it, Stern said that Kimmel loved David Letterman and didn’t like when Leno lotted against him.
Carson followed up Monday night’s comments with an interview Tuesday morning on Fox News, where he suggested, as The New York Times puts it, that the students at Umpqua Community College “were overly passive”. It is so bad, even the Kardashians are losing their ass.
