Ron Perlman Joins Harry Potter Spinoff ‘Fantastic Beasts’
He’s joined spinoff movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as a goblin, which is all very odd since JK Rowling has described goblins as being a head shorter than Harry Potter.
What’s interesting about the casting news is that a goblin is usually portrayed as a small skinny creature, but Perlman clearly has contrast physical characteristics. Their roles in the film have not been announced yet but Digital Trends speculates that they will play wizards or muggles that Scamander will encounter on his journeys.
David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter movies, is back in the director’s chair, and Rowling is making her screenwriting debut on the film, which is envisioned as the first installment in a trilogy.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to star Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo, Gemma Chan, Jenn Murray and newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove. He was most recently seen in Roland Emmerich’s civil rights drama “Stonewall”.
Warner Bros. will unleash Fantastic Beasts in November 2016.
