Dad’s photo of son in Elsa costume goes viral
Paul Henson of Chesapeake, Va., posted a photo to Facebook of his three-year-old son Caiden in his Princess Elsa Halloween dress from the Disney movie Frozen. “I have a little girl she likes “boys toys” and “girls toys” I also have a baby boy and will also let him play with “boys an girls” toys and wear whatever costumes he wants”. Henson’s response? “Game on”, as he wrote on Facebook.
These dresses would make a ideal alternative to a Halloween costume or stocking filler. “Just so happens, this week his is a princess”.
The dad didn’t end his comment there, however, going on to defend his son’s right to be anything he wants for the spooky holiday.
Henson posted the photo online Sunday and it has been shared thousands of times. “I want Caiden to know the extent I’ll go to make him happy and that he’s not alone”.
Henson explained why he allowed his son to dress up as a princess in the caption underneath the photo. Henson said, “It’s important for children to know that their parents will stand by them no matter what”.
Mikkelborg says that when it comes to school, however, parents with kids who are dressing in costumes of the opposite sex may need to talk to their children about how to handle any potential negativity on their own. I just didn’t think it would be anywhere near this. “& to the parents breaking gender stereotypes & letting kids figure out who they are, you are making the world a better place”.
