New trailer for the ‘Sherlock’ Christmas special is out
Cumber-fans have been posting their excitement at the preview across social media. The trailer for Sherlock’s Victorian-era Christmas special debuted last night after the finale of another bastion of Britishness.
“We are ready to begin”, Sherlock intoned at the beginning of the clip. If only god knows how much did we miss their chemistry. “Nothing made me”, says Holmes.
While many details are still under wraps – including, unfortunately, the special’s airdate – we’ve already had several clues about what the Sherlock Victorian special will entail.
In a new trailer released to promote the episode, which will appear on PBS in the US, we see what the results of this Victorian episode looks like, and it’s likely that viewers will see this and exclaim “elementary, my dear Watson!”
Although no specific date has been officially announced, a Sherlock Countdown account on Twitter said there are 79 days remaining until the special airs. It will be around that time of year. Mark Gatiss and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own.
“Sherlock Holmes has the manners of a Victorian gentleman which he doesn’t have in modern day, so he’s less brattish”, said Moffat. “The name is Sherlock Holmes and the address is 221B Baker Street”, Cumberbatch says in character.
No official synopsis has been released for the coming Christmas special but we do know that it is to be based on the famous short story “The Red-Headed League.” According to series producer Rebecca Eaton, season four will maintain the typical three-episode run and begin production sometime in spring.
Meanwhile, Sherlock: Season 4 is expected to premiere in 2017. Gone is the chic Belstaff coat, in comes the deerstalker hat and swooshy cape that we all associate with the detective.
