Video shows police using Taser on Texas councilman
Newly-elected councilman Jonathan Miller said his fraternity brothers were practicing a step routine outside his house when a police officer stopped to investigate.
A female officer involved in Thursday’s arrest was involved with Bland’s arrest, Prairie View Police Chief Larry Johnson said, but her identity has not been released.
Miller came outside to tell the officers they were his guests and he wanted to know why they were being questioned.
A councilman was Tasered Thursday in an incident involving the same deputy who arrested Sandra Bland, the woman who died in jail days after being pulled over for failing to signal a lane change.
A female officer then says, “He’s going to have to tase you”.
Prairie View police used a Taser on a councilman who was interfering with officers questioning a group of men outside his home, authorities said.
Miller was accused of ignoring police orders to step away from the scene, according to arrest affidavits.
Miller was arrested and charged with interfering with a public servant and resisting arrest.
The clip Woodson forwarded to KSN media partner KPRC-TV appeared to show a man being given commands and then falling forward, presumably after the Taser was deployed.
‘It went from me asking questions, to me basically being put face down on the ground, ‘ he said. Miller says during the altercation that was caught on video by a friend.
Assistant Attorney General Seth Byron Dennis said last month that prosecutors could submit findings of the investigation into Bland’s arrest to a Waller County grand jury “probably mid to late October” to determine if criminal charges are warranted. Miller is also black.
‘We have six police officers. Soon after, a friend recorded the stun gun incident. He got out on bond Friday morning. “The probability of having the same officer involved in multiple types of incidences is probable”, Prairie View Chief of Police Larry Johnson said.
“I haven’t seen anything that gives me cause for concern as far as at this point”, Johnson said.
