NWHL players tweet inspiring #TBT posts ahead of inaugural season
The Pride’s first game will be held this Sunday in Buffalo, New York against the Buffalo Beauts at 3:30 EST in HarborCenter Arena.
The puck will first drop for the NWHL on October 11, as the Riveters and Whale face-off at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, Conn.
Stack who is also a member of the United States women’s national ice hockey team, is the highest paid in the league thus far, with a 2015-2016 salary of $25,000.
Each team will play an 18-game schedule that runs through the end of February.
In an effort to garner attention for the new league, several players took to Twitter to post pictures of themselves in their younger years, along with the line, “To when playing professional hockey was just a dream”. Throughout training camp, I have been incredibly impressed with the caliber of play in the NWHL and I know Boston-area hockey fans will be, as well.”The Pride will play its home game at the Bright-Landry Center located at Harvard University”.
Though the Beauts lost their first game 4 to 1, the fans say this is the beginning of something special and they’re looking forward to supporting women’s hockey.
“Seeing the little girls was awesome”, Stack said after the game. But for the many girls lined up around the rink and waiting after the game to get autographs from the Riveters and Whale, the NWHL has given them more role models to add to their rosters.
