Plane Crashes in Yola, Killing All Aboard
The crash is blamed on bad weather and not under enemy fire around Hong, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, the Army has said.
The Chinese-built Chengdu F7 went down Friday in a rural area of Adamawa State, the statement said.
Alonge, who refused to disclose the identities of those on board the ill-fated plane, said the accident occurred around 4; 25pm.
Military sources said the pilot flying the sortie, died after ejecting the aircraft.
Information released by the NAF spokesman, Dele Alonge revealed that the fighter jet crashed as a result of bad weather conditions. “The Mi-35 attack helicopters and Alpha Jet airplanes are the most used in the fight against terror in the Northeast”.
The Air Force authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, the statement added.
The Dornier-228 aircraft, with call sign NAF030, had on August 29 crashed into a house at Ribadu Cantonment, in Kaduna, shortly after take-off.
After the crash, Air Force Chief Abubakar constituted an investigative panel, headed by an Air Vice Marshal, to unravel the cause of the accident. They are made in China, very effective, but like I said earlier, maintenance is the problem, considering the volume of usage in recent time.
