Chelsea star Pedro should have stayed at Barcelona, says former team-mate Dani
Yet Pedro isn’t anxious about his start and is happy at Chelsea, playing regularly after a year being behind Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.
And former team-mate Alves has admitted he was not happy with how the move panned out, and had hoped he would remain with Barca.
“I told Pedro he should have stayed at the team but too many people got involved”, the London Evening Standard quotes Alves as saying.
Winger Pedro has said that he has no regrets over making the move to sign for Chelsea this summer despite the club’s poor form as it has made him more confident, and as a result, a happier person, according to the Daily Express.
“[The Chelsea players have] been a great support to me, the adaptation has been quick given I already knew them from [the national team] and they’ve treated me well, showing me how the club works”.
“When a player gets minutes [on the pitch], he picks up rhythm and confidence, he is happier and willing to try more things”, he said. La Roja will play their final game against Ukraine in Kiev on Monday.
Spain didn’t have a great time of it at last year’s World Cup, falling at the first hurdle after losses to the Netherlands and Chile in the group stages.
“Obviously we know that we weren’t our best at the World Cup, we didn’t give a good account of ourselves”, he said. “But I think in the qualifying matches for Euro 2016 the team has shown a new image and that’s the way to go”.
