Giants won’t have Devon Kennard Sunday
The Giants rush defense is ranked the best in the National Football League, giving up less than 70 yards a contest.
That leaves the Giants thinner than they’d like in the front seven, although they can take a few solace from the lack of any signs that the 49ers offense is equipped to take advantage.
New York Giants linebacker Devon Kennard saw his development as a rookie delayed in 2014 by a Week 1 hamstring injury. Wide receiver Victor Cruz (calf) is also out as expected. He is fourth on the team in tackles with 23, is second to Damontre Moore in quarterback hits with four.
“[Kennard] has had a very good start to the season, so obviously we lose his energy, his enthusiasm, his love of the game, his physical play”. “I’ve probably iced it 100 times since our last game, and I’m just trying to get it right and doing whatever the trainers tell me, and hopefully I’ll be back soon”, said Kennard, one of several Giants who did not practice on Wednesday”. “More people will participate in the roles that he fulfilled”. That makes three straight weeks without Ayers, who is suffering from a hamstring injury, and it will be the first game Selvie has missed this season.
“Yeah, he’d have to be the guy that helps balance that out”, Coughlin said of Jenkins.
LB Jonathan Casillas (calf), CB Jayron Hosley (concussion) and CB Trumaine McBride (groin) are questionable.
Tight end Jerome Cunningham (knee), tackle Ereck Flowers (ankle) and defensive tackle Markus Kuhn (knee) all practiced and are probable. Casillas did not practice on Friday.
Fells still hospitalized: Tight end Daniel Fells is still being treated for MRSA.
