Steve Kerr Speaks to Media, No Timetable for Return — Warriors News
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed Sunday that a spinal fluid leak lead to his leave of absence, and there’s no timetable for a return. The Warriors head coach, who led the team to an National Basketball Association title in his rookie year as mentor, has missed all of Golden State’ preseason games because of the back surgery complications.
Kerr told reporters on Sunday that he lost spinal fluid and took about a month to figure out what was going on that resulted in having numerous headaches and other symptoms. “And that’s why I’m out”. “As I noted last week, my summer was hard and no fun due to the multiple back surgeries. There’s no telling. It’s a little bit open-ended, but everybody’s very confident everything will be fine”.
Kerr, speaking at the team’s practice facility in northern California, said that he suffered the leak of spinal fluid during back surgery on July 28, and despite a second procedure to address the problem was still experiencing symptoms. After the second surgery, he lasted two days of training camp before going on leave.
When will Kerr be able to return to the Warriors’ bench? He has attended parts of a few practices and reviewed video from exhibition games.
“This is my dream job. It’s unbelievably frustrating. I want to be here, but I also know that I’ve got to be careful”. But when I’m at home, I’m bored. He said it’s just a matter of his body recalibrating. “I’m in good shape. This is a unique circumstance, and once it’s resolved, I’ll be fine”.
Kerr said he is feeling better. “Because I think there’s kind of a gray area, people wondering what’s going on”, he said.
