Rubio Raises $12M for 2016 White House Bid
As reported by a press release from Rubio’s campaign, the campaign received donations from all 50 states; his support was especially strong in Florida, where more than 12,000 donors contributed a total of $2.2 million to his presidential campaign.
Marco Rubio’s campaign announced a $12 million haul, Monday, enough to place him in the top-tier of Republican contenders when it comes to fundraising.
Rubio is currently ranked fourth in the Real Clear Politics Average of the latest national polls for the Republican presidential nomination, behind Bush, Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI), and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
Bush reported earlier this month raising $11.4 million in the first 16 days of his campaign.
Fellow Florida politician Jeb Bush, a former governor, raised a record $114 million since January, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s supporters have given $52 million to his presidential effort.
But funds for super PACs, which can raise unlimited amounts of money, are responsible for the majority of support raised on behalf of candidates. The groups are a super PAC and a nonprofit policy group, both called Conservative Solutions and the groups say they’ve raised an additional $32 million.
Presidential candidates must report fundraising figures for the fiscal quarter ending on June 30 to the Federal Election Commission by July 15. In addition, Rubio’s political action committee, “The Reclaim America PAC”, raised $1.2 million with $539,000 on hand. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton says she has raised $45 million for her campaign and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders $15 million.
