Dinamo Zagreb player failed drug test after victory over Arsenal
The Croatian-born midfielder was instrumental in Dinamo’s 2-1 home victory over the Gunners, which leaves Arsene Wenger’s men in a perilous position in Group F with zero points.
“Due to a positive doping test after the Champions league match Dinamo – Arsenal, UEFA instigates disciplinary proceedings against Ademi”, the club announced on their website.
“For years, our players have been regularly subjected to doping controls and nothing like this has ever happened, so we have to say that we are surprised by the result”.
The player is awaiting the results of a B sample, and could be banned for up to two years by Uefa if the tests are positive.
The surprise win over Arsenal was followed up in Europe with a resounding 5-0 defeat at Bayern Munich, in which Ademi also played, and that loss brought an end to Dinamo’s 45-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
UEFA won’t issue a comment until after Ademi’s B-sample is tested.
As yet, it is not known whether the side will be docked points or face any serious sanctions as a result of the test.
‘Arijan Ademi was tested six times in the a year ago and each time the report was negative’.
