Pichai makes first major appointments as Google head
Hiroshi Lockheimer, a vice president for Android, is now senior vp for Android, Chrome OS and Chromecast.
It comes just a week after Google morphed into its new holding company, Alphabet – headed up by the multinational’s co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Burke, on the other end, has assumed more leader-level engineering roles.
In the commercials audience, Mountain View’s monitor and online video media publicity portion has an new SVP in Mohan.
Neal Mohan, vice president of display and video advertising, has now been given the role of a senior vice president of those two categories. He has been a powerful figure in Silicon Valley and such major players as Twitter and Dropbox have attempted to lure them over to their side, only for Mohan to stay at the tech giant.
It appears like a few Google folks are now basking on their promotions, and among the winners are Android division’s VP Hiroshi Lockheimer, Android VP Dave Burke and advertising executives Neal Mohan and Phillip Schindler. Lockheimer will be handling the position that Pichai himself was appointed to way back in 2004 before he got appointed as the chief of Google Products in 2014. There are also other slew of Google promotions to VP titles, as Pichai attempts to stave off competition, particularly from digital rivals like Facebook, Twitter who are also focusing on ads and commerce.
Another high-ranking appointment announced by Pichai is the promotion of Philip Schindler as the SVP for Google’s Global Sales and Operations.
