New boss Steven Pressley understands hard work lies ahead at Fleetwood
Steven Pressley has spoken highly of his former club Coventry ahead of this weekend’s meeting with his new team Fleetwood.
In February this year he had a loan spell with Crawley Town and played ten times and joined Fleetwood on a months loan in September where he’s made three appearance helping them to a win in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy over Shrewsbury mid-week. “In the first half we were a little tentative in our play”.
The likes of Reda Johnson, Chris Stokes and Romain Vincelot are all expected to return to Mowbray’s starting line-up.
But the Sky Blues earned their slice of luck with another positive display in which they created a number of good chances and consistently asked questions of the opposition defence despite being without top goalscorer Adam Armstrong. Fleetwood find themselves languishing in 23rd and without a win in 7 league games whilst the Sky Blues are nestled nicely in the play off places, sitting 5th with a game in hand on the teams around them.
‘We started with a little bit of trepidation on Tuesday as you can imagine really when you’re a team that hasn’t been getting results lately.
The former Sky Blues boss takes the helm for his first game in charge of the Cod Army, looking to move his new club away from the relegation zone.
“I’ve got great memories there, a fantastic raport”, Pressley told the Blackpool Gazette. This, despite the hard circumstances the club faced during his tenure.
“But in terms of the players trying to adapt to the new principles, I thought they did very well”. We have to show more consistency in that department.
With Steven Pressley’s arrival, the match has taken on an even greater importance. Winning breeds confidence and confidence breeds better performances. It is going to be fascinating to see how well Fleetwood respond to the arrival of their new manager and how Coventry can cope without a few crucial players to the side.
